ENGAGEMENT RINGS

Before purchasing engagement rings, you should make sure you know enough about the subject to know whether or not the jeweler you select is working to make sure you are happy with the engagement rings you have selected, or whether he is only concerned with getting the most possible money after each sale.

Starting your search for a good jeweler to help you with the process of purchasing engagement rings should start with obtaining recommendations from friends and family.  Almost anyone who has purchased engagement rings will probably be willing to recommend someone who provided particularly good service.

If you happen to be fortunate enough to have a friend or a family member who is in the jewelry business, it's easy to determine who you should visit when it comes time to purchase engagement rings.  Most people are not that fortunate though, so they end up asking for recommendations from others.  If your contact likes a particular jeweler, try to determine what about the jeweler was the positive points.  In other words, if they liked a jeweler because the selection was large, that's one thing.  If they liked the jeweler because the salesman was so helpful, that's another thing entirely.

Things are different in purchasing engagement ringsnow that so many jewelers or all sizes are placing inventory on the internet.  The selection is much wider, and the prices are somewhat lower due to competition and due to lower overhead costs with online venues.  If you are purchasing engagement rings locally, you will probably find a wider selection at a national chain, but the quality may be somewhat less than at the mom-and-pop jewelry outlet.  Regardless of which type of store you select--national chain, mom and pop or online store, you should ascertain that the jeweler is accredited by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or as a member of the Jewelers of America. Both these organizations are fairly rigid about their members upholding high standards.

Hopefully you have done all your homework before purchasing engagement rings, but in the event that you don't have the ring you thought you wanted, check beforehand about the return policy of the store.  If you have done custom engraving or custom designs, you may not be able to return the ring. That's not something which you want to find out about after the fact.  Purchasing the ring is a once in a lifetime purchase for many people so you want to make the process as enjoyable as possible.
